Sustainability in furniture shopping
Since 2018, we've been offering timeless, functional, and conscious furniture basics. At mokebo, sustainability isn't a one-time goal—it's an ongoing process that constantly challenges and inspires us. We're proud of the progress we've made so far, but we're not resting on our laurels. Instead, we continue to set ambitious goals to do our part in protecting the environment. We want to show you that there are many ways to make a positive impact, and we hope we can inspire you as a consumer to bring more sustainability into your life and your home.

Local manufacturing in Germany
We partner exclusively with select manufacturers across Germany and prioritize regional production. Over 80% of our furniture is made in Germany, meeting the highest quality standards. Local production facilities keep transportation distances short and associated CO2 emissions low.
Timeless designs that never go out of style
We at mokebo focus on timeless and durable designs instead of short-lived trends. That's how we create furniture that appeals to many people and brings joy not just today, but for years to come.

Storage furniture with wood from European forests
Our popular multi-purpose cabinets, wardrobes, bathroom cabinets, and dressers are crafted exclusively with wood from European forests. By choosing local alternatives to tropical hardwoods, we help prevent rainforest deforestation. Our storage furniture is also manufactured using renewable energy (solar power), making it produced with sustainability in mind.

Accessories for a longer product lifespan
With matching accessories, we extend the life of many mokebo products. For example, our bean bag covers protect your outdoor bean bag from the elements, keeping the fabric and colors vibrant for years to come. With our EPS bead refill pack, you can add extra volume to your bean bags so they stay comfortable for a lifetime.

We pack it up eco-friendly!
When shipping our furniture, we focus on keeping our environmental footprint as small as possible. That means using the minimum packaging material necessary while still ensuring your pieces arrive safely and undamaged. We continuously analyze and optimize our furniture packaging. Some products, like our multi-purpose cabinet 'Der Lange', can already be shipped completely without styrofoam.
Re-Commerce: Reducing returns & reselling second-hand
One of the biggest levers for sustainability in e-commerce is return management. Product returns from online purchases generate around 238,000 tons of CO2 annually in Germany. We want to break this cycle and are committed to holistic, sustainable return management. Even before a purchase, we prevent returns through detailed product descriptions, images, customer reviews, and free fabric samples. These and other measures have a real impact — our return rate is under 4%, significantly below the assumed industry average of around 10%. Since returns can't be completely avoided despite our best efforts, we've also adopted an innovative re-commerce approach. We restock like-new returned products and market returns with minor imperfections through our partner malindo as B-stock.
Furnish sustainably: your home, your responsibility
At mokebo, we're committed to creating mindful furniture. But you have the power too—to make your furniture choices more sustainable. Here are some simple yet impactful ways you can make a difference:

Less is more
Buy only the furniture you really need. It's good for your wallet and the environment.
Turn the old into the new
Repair and/or upcycle old furniture instead of throwing it away. A small defect doesn't mean the end, and small changes can often work wonders.
Pass it on & recycle
Sell or donate furniture that no longer fits your style, and check recycling options for worn-out pieces. That way you stay in the green and help extend the life cycle of your furniture.
Remember: every small choice makes a big difference. With these tips, you're not just creating a beautiful home — you're actively contributing to environmental protection. Together, we can make a real impact!
