Accessibility statement for mokebo
Updated: January 13, 2026
1. Our commitment and legal basis
mokebo believes everyone—whether or not they experience vision, hearing, or mobility challenges—should be able to use our online shop without barriers. We're guided by the Barrier-Free Strengthening Act (BFSG), EU Directive 2019/882, and the technical standard EN 301 549. We align our work with the success criteria of WCAG 2.1 Level AA and continuously develop our shop toward full compliance.
These guidelines are recognized worldwide as the standard for web accessibility and focus on creating content that is perceivable, operable, understandable, and robust:
- Perceivable - Information and user interface components must be presentable in ways that users can perceive
- Operable - User interface components and navigation must be operable
- Understandable - Information and user interface operation must be understandable
- Robust - Content must be robust enough to be reliably interpreted by a wide variety of user agents, including assistive technologies
We remain committed to improving the accessibility of our website and services, believing it's our shared moral responsibility to enable seamless, accessible, and unhindered use for everyone, including those living with disabilities.
2. Current accessibility status
- Structure & navigation: Our website is well-organized, with main and footer navigation guiding users logically through our offerings. Sections and content are structured with clear headings, paragraphs, and lists.
- Keyboard navigation: All functions can be fully controlled from the keyboard, with a visible focus indicator showing which element is active.
- Color contrast: Text, buttons, and backgrounds are designed so all color contrasts meet a minimum ratio of 4.5:1.
- Visual calm: We deliberately avoid blinking or flashing content. Animations are minimal and restrained.
- Media: All embedded videos start muted by default—we never auto-play content with sound.
- Alternative text & language: Product and mood images include descriptive alt text. Language throughout the shop is clear, straightforward, and easy to understand.
- Scalability: The layout remains functional and usable even when zoomed up to 200 percent.
- Forms & checkout: Forms display visible labels, required fields are marked with *, and if mandatory information is missing, the field is clearly highlighted with an explanation.
3. Planned improvements
According to our latest internal audit, mokebo.de currently meets "partially conformant" status under WCAG 2.1 AA—only portions of the content fully meet the requirements. We're working systematically to remove existing barriers.
We're reviewing individual link text so each link itself clearly communicates where it leads. Colors will no longer be the sole carrier of information; we're adding distinct icons to error messages. We're auditing all ARIA roles and adjusting them as needed. Assembly instructions and safety notices are being gradually converted to accessible PDF/UA format. In a few cases, heading structure is incorrect, breaking semantic hierarchy—we'll fix these soon. Some images and graphics currently lack alternative text; we'll add these missing descriptions over the next few months.
4. Feedback contact
If you encounter a barrier in everyday use or need content in another format, we'd love to hear from you.
