mokebo offers several different wardrobe models. This comparison is all about two of our most popular: 'Robe' and 'Grid'. Both stand for careful workmanship – but differ clearly in look and features. If you love handleless elegance, you'll end up with 'Robe'. If you prefer a classic look with handles in white or anthracite, you'll choose 'Grid'. We show you where the differences lie in detail and which model suits your room.

The difference lies mainly in the look, the panel thickness and the available widths – more on that in a moment.

'Robe' vs. 'Grid': handles or handleless?

The most striking difference is the front. In short:

  • 'Robe': handleless, push-to-open, Kaschmir Beige, 20 mm panel thickness, soft-close drawers

  • 'Grid': classic hinged doors with handles, white or anthracite, 15 mm panel thickness

'Robe' opens with push-to-open, without any handle strip. This creates a calm, pared-back look that goes particularly well with warm, natural interior styles. Add to that the Kaschmir Beige front, a soft, velvety shade that stands out clearly from classic white or anthracite.

'Grid', on the other hand, relies on classic hinged doors with handles. This looks more neutral and is easier to combine with existing furniture that already has similar shades. If you're unsure whether handleless is practical in everyday life: push-to-open needs a little more force to open than a classic handle, but there are no edges to catch on as you walk past.

There is also a noticeable difference in material thickness: 'Robe' uses 20 mm thick panels with soft-close drawer runners, which makes the carcass more stable overall and the opening feel more high-quality. 'Grid' comes with 15 mm thick panels. This greater panel thickness is also one reason why 'Robe' is priced above 'Grid': more material and the more elaborate soft-close mechanism mean more quality, but also a higher price. Both models have a robust chipboard carcass made with wood from European forests and can be extended in height with the top unit 'Der Hochstapler'.

Width, height & space: what suits you?

When it comes to width, the two models differ more than you might think. 'Grid' works in large steps, 90 or 180 cm, which makes choosing easy. 'Robe', on the other hand, starts at just 46 cm and grows to over 225 cm – ideal both for a narrow hallway niche and for a continuous wall of wardrobes in the bedroom.

If you're planning a bedroom for two, take a look at our guide The perfect wardrobe for 2 people: the rule of thumb here is at least two metres of width, a size that both 'Robe' and 'Grid' easily reach.

In terms of height, the two are close: they start at around 187 to 197 cm and reach a total height of 234 cm with a top unit – enough for an extra storage level under the ceiling. Price-wise, 'Grid' is slightly below 'Robe'. There's a clear reason for this: the handleless front, the Kaschmir decor and above all the thicker 20 mm panels make 'Robe' the premium option in the range, while 'Grid' remains the solid, classic option.

When is another mokebo model worth it?

If neither of the two main models fits your room perfectly, there are two alternatives in the mokebo range:

  • 'Der Grenzenlose': six width modules from 60 to 210 cm, classic doors with handles, the same height (187 cm, 234 cm with top unit) and depth (58 cm) as 'Grid' – ideal if the two Grid widths aren't enough for you
  • 'Der Kleiderheld': compact at 80 cm wide, only 51 cm deep – ideal for small rooms, children's rooms or as a second wardrobe

'Der Grenzenlose' therefore gives you finer increments if your niche has an awkward size, while 'Der Kleiderheld' scores wherever space really needs to be saved.

How to find your wardrobe

How to make your decision:

  • You like a pared-back look and warm tones: 'Robe' – handleless, in Kaschmir Beige, flexible from the narrow hallway solution to the wide wall of wardrobes
  • You prefer a classic look with handles: 'Grid' – neutral in white or anthracite, the contemporary version of the mokebo classic

A practical tip to finish: before you decide on a colour, order a free wood sample. That way you can see at home, in your own light, whether Kaschmir Beige, white or anthracite really suits your bedroom. And if you then want to plan straight away how best to fill your new wardrobe, you'll find all the tips for a system that lasts in our guide Organising your wardrobe.
